Kane Stegeman began his legal career in 2005 as an associate in a defendant’s firm, where he acted on behalf of insurance companies. It wasn’t long before he ‘saw the light’, and in 2008 he jumped ship to the ‘good side’, a plaintiff’s law firm. He brought with him a wealth of practical and tactical knowledge which he used on behalf of his new clients.

In 2016, Kane joined GKS Law (then known as Gleeson Klein Stegeman). Here he found the firm’s focus on long-term relationships with people and the community aligned with his own personal philosophy of people first.  Kane’s clients love working with him because he’s, above all, personable and responsive. One of the most common refrains we hear about Kane is, ‘he’s not how I pictured a lawyer’ … and we think that’s a great thing.

Of course, Kane is also extremely knowledgeable and successful. As the Personal Injury Legal Practice Director, Kane has contributed highly to GKS Law’s incredible success. This includes being recognised by Doyle’s Guide in 2019 as a Leading Accident Compensation firm, a Leading Compensation Law firm and a Leading Public Liability firm. He’s no slouch on his own either and was personally recognised by Doyle’s Guide in 2017 and 2018 as one of the state’s Leading Work Injury Compensation Lawyers, a Leading Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyer and a Recommended Public Liability Lawyer, and in 2019 as a Leading Public Liability Compensation Lawyer, Leading Work Injury Compensation Lawyer and Leading Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation Lawyer.

All accolades aside, Kane is just the guy you want on your side when things go wrong. With his focus on plain talking and real-world solutions, Kane cuts through the lawyer jargon to ensure that his clients always know exactly where they stand and what they can achieve.

Kane takes his people-first approach to his personal life as well. He’s always been deeply involved with competitive sport, including rugby touch, touch football and Oztag. He doesn’t just play, he also volunteers his time as a member of the Sunshine Coast/Gympie Rugby League Judiciary, as Chairman of the Disciplinary Tribunal and as an independent board member of the Sunshine Coast Falcons. He loves the game, but he knows that to support the game, you have to support the people behind the scenes. This is the attitude he brings to his legal practice as well.
