As a Legal Practice Director, Mike Klein leads our personal injury and compensation law team. While this is what he does within the firm, what he is known for by his clients and the greater community, is much more.Mike took over the firm, previously known as Gleeson Klein Stegeman, from the founding principal Bruce Gleeson in 2006, and since then has taken it from strength to strength. Under Mike’s leadership, the firm has grown from a one-practitioner firm to one of the largest law firms in the Moreton Bay region with three legal directors, four solicitors, conveyancing paralegals and support staff. Mike didn’t just drive growth – from modernising its name, to investing in an iconic Redcliffe heritage building for the growing firm’s new offices, it is clear that Mike is looking firmly to the future for GKS Law. Mike believes the success and growth of the firm can be attributed to providing consistently high-quality legal services and a reasonable and transparent fee structure, being approachable and available and always putting the clients’ interests first. Of course, the outstanding results don’t hurt, and GKS Law (and Mike, too) was delighted to be recognised by Doyle’s Guide in 2019 as a Leading Accident Compensation firm, a Leading Compensation Law firm and a Leading Public Liability firm. Mike began his legal career as an associate in a boutique insurance law firm acting for insurance companies but quickly grew dissatisfied with that career path. That should come as no surprise, as his clients know that he is passionate about helping people. Mike is always striving to achieve positive outcomes for his clients, whether that is through property transactions or helping those who have been wronged obtain justice. He is not afraid to take on organisations with far greater power and resources at their disposal and strongly believes that every person should have access to quality legal representation. His down-to-earth, practical approach to the practice of law makes him a firm favourite with clients and staff alike. Mike believes that trust is the key, and his clients trust that he will always act in their best interests while using his skills and experience to get the best outcome for them. We do allow Mike a bit of a personal life as well, and he loves spending time with his wife Tina, and three teenage boys, Max, Eric and Ben who live locally here on the Peninsula. Mike is a self-confessed sports tragic, and whether it’s cricket, rugby league, AFL or horse racing, you can find him cheering front and centre. He and his brother are also doing their bit for the planet, by establishing a manufacturing plant at Brendale that turns recycled plastic bottles into new industrial products.
